Unlike typical sentimental depictions, Colescott portrays this uniquely American holiday as a raucous celebration of recently arrived English men and women sharing the bounty from nearby fields and woods with their indigenous guests. He treated other events in the âHistoriesâ series from a similarly satirical and unconventional viewpoint.
