My work is what I would refer to as “fountain” photography. Having a visual “Rorschach” quality, viewers often see within the work, dancing characters, sea creatures, etc . These forms are sometimes intentional, other times by chance, but always precisely controlled, and captured with high speed photography.
The apparatus necessary for this work is custom constructed, designed to create liquid forms previously unseen within stop action photography. The works are original in concept and completion. While primarily working with liquids, other elements are occasionally used. All in mid air, as amazing sculptures and for only a fraction of a second, captured in a flash.
Digital composition or rendering is not used in the construction of these compositions. All events happen simultaneously in a single frame capture
The art is very much in the planning, set construction and final creation of the images. They become very temporary three-dimensional sculptures. Photography, through composition and lighting, are the only means to view these very brief events.
