This print derives from one of the artist’s sculptural collages, evoking not only his early as well as many later sculpture projects. Meeker also benefited from an early experience with the silk-screen process, not obtained as part of his academic training but rather from night jobs in commercial silkscreen sign shops in Chicago while attending classes at the Art Institute of Chicago. That commercial experience helped prepare Meeker to teach the first silk screen course offered in an American university.
