A found box of slides contained the idea for âI Love a Paradeâ. In the box were slides of 1955 West Bend. It was a slice of old Americana. While creating this piece I would ponder the lives of the people in the image. The little children would now be in their sixties and seventies. Many would be gone. Many would have moved away and some may have stayed. Are you in the painting?
Society has changed since this snippet of time was frozen. As in the parade, time marches on. Our movies are no longer Cinemascope and Ben Franklin Stores are gone. Fortunately, the West Bend Theater was saved from destruction.
