Yet another combination silk-screen and collagraph, this example of Meekerâs work also repeats the theme of the single figure, which in this case is wearing a damaged mask that inspired the printâs Italian title. The print is a proof from an edition of 40 produced in 1971. Meeker was one of ten Wisconsin printmakers commissioned that year by the Wisconsin Arts Council to produce an edition limited to forty signed copies. One of those forty portfolios of ten prints in housed at the Library of Congress.
The other nine artists who participated in the portfolio project were R. Burkert, W. Colescott, J. Damer, R. Gloeckler, Victor Kord, F. Myers, M. Spalatin, A.Thrall and W. Weege. The Library of Congress has one portfolio containing the ten prints, which are identified on Google under âWisconsin graphics/Robert Burkert/Library of Congress.â That portfolio is housed in the Prints and Photographs Division under the following Call Number and Location: NE508.W57 1971 (Case Z) [P&P] Copy 1. The Library of Congress Control Number for the portfolio is 82466899.
Other copies of the portfolio or individual prints may be included in the collection at the Rahr-West Art Museum in Manitowoc and other museums in Wisconsin.
