Very early, historic and important etching of Jones Island Fishing Village - formerly on south side of Milwaukee.
Most residents were forced to leave Jones island by 1920, all left by 1940.
Very possibly done in 1928/29 when Fernekes was a student studying printmaking and drawing at Wisc State Teachers College under Gustave Moeller.
Signed in print as well as pencil signed bottom right.
