Armin O. Hansen was most notably known as a muralist. As part of the WPA Federal Arts Program, he painted hundreds of murals throughout Wisconsin including at schools in Horicon, Milwaukee, Shorewood, and Wausau. He also painted seven murals for the Pabst Brewing co, among many other businesses.

Hansen attended the Wisconsin School of Art, studying under Alexander Mueller, at the State Normal School under Gustave Moeller and Frederick Fursman, at the National Academy of Art in New York, and in Munich under muralist, Leo Patz.

He was involved in the WPA Federal Art Project and the Wisconsin Painters and Sculptors. He also served on the Milwaukee Art Commission during the 30s.

Hansen’s artwork is part of the Milwaukee Art Museum and Museum of Wisconsin Art permanent collections. His work has been exhibited at the Panama-Pacific Exhibition in San Francisco (1915), WPS Milwaukee Art Institute Exhibition (1917), Milwaukee Journal Gallery of Wisconsin Art (1924-31, 1982-83), Milwaukee Art Institute (1928), Charles Allis Art Museum (1986-90), and the Twelmeyer-Krumbholz Fine Arts Inc., Milwaukee (1979).
