DIED: August 3, 1992, Cave Creek, AZ

Audrey May Lampier was born and resided in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

She first received her RN degree from Deaconess Hospital and later served in the Army as a nurse stationed in the South Pacific during World War II. 

Following her military service, in 1950 Audrey went to Paris, France where she studied with the artist E. Fernand Leger. While a student of Leger Miss Lampier became interested in the “encaustic” method of painting - a method used by many of the old Masters - painting by means of wax with which oil colors are combined and which afterwards are fused with heat thus fixing the colors giving them an almost ceramic effect. Several of her works are in this medium.

Upon returning to the US in 1951, she entered the Layton School of Fine Art and graduated in 1953 with a BS Degree in Fine Arts. 

A graduate RN by profession, Audrey was the head of the Outpatient Department at Deconess for many years. At the same time, a very creative and Successful artist, she combined nursing with a devotion to Painting, sculpture and the art of wood block printing.

She participated in several one woman shows with her oils, sculpture and block prints - appearing in exhibition at:

Momentum Exhibit-Chicago 1954;

Wisconsin State Fair Fine Arts Exhibit 1953 ;

Wisconsin Salon of Art 1952-53-54-56-57;

San Francisco 72nd Annual Art Exhibit;

Library of Congress, Washington DC Print Collection Exhibit;
