Phil Austin was born in Waukegan, Illinois in 1910 and lived mainly in Door County, Wisconsin as a watercolor painter.
Phil Austin was known for his watercolor landscape and marine paintings. He was also a teacher at Wheaton College from 1963 to 1970 and worked as a free-lance artist in Chicago from 1950 to 1966.
He was a member of the Midwest Watercolor Society (MWS) and the Wisconsin Watercolor Society (WWS).
"American Artist" magazine - October, 1971 issue, had a feature article on him.
