Sherman attended South Division High School in Milwaukee, and the Chicago Art Institute.

He exhibited in the Milwaukee Journal Gallery of Wisconsin Art, and is listed in their exhibition catalog Nov. 14, 1982 - Jan. 2, 1983.

He later was the Promotion and Advertising Copy Writer, and first editor of the Rotogravure Section of the Milwaukee Journal.

He was an employee with the Milwaukee Journal for almost 36 years until his early death at 62 years of age.
