BORN: August 19, 1855 in Germany

DIED: November 8, 1951 in Milwaukee

After spending time with the Dusseldorf artists colony, Herman Matt immigrated to the US around 1873.

He spent time working for a bank in Medford, WI, but the majority of his life was spent in Milwaukee - although his name does not appear on city records until 1906.

Primarily a landscape painter, Mr. Matt painted mostly portraits later in his life.

Herm Matt died in 1951.
